# Kouros — Sculpture Studio & Gallery

> Kouros is a sculpture studio and private gallery in Tirana, Albania, founded by Den Cela in 2016. The studio specializes in handcrafted sculptures in bronze, marble, terracotta, and basalt.

## About

Kouros is a studio devoted to the slow disciplines of carving, casting, and the patient dialogue between hand and stone. Each work emerges from material resistance — the stone's refusal, the bronze's memory.

Founded by Den Cela, who trained in classical sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, followed by a residency at the Fonderia Artistica in Rome. He returned to Albania in 2016 to establish Kouros.

## Materials & Techniques

- **Bronze**: Lost-wax casting and direct chasing. Each work is unique; no edition exceeds three casts. Patination applied by hand in-studio.
- **Marble**: Sourced from Carrara and Thassos quarries. Cut by pneumatic chisel and finished by abrasion through 600-grit wet stone.
- **Terracotta**: High-fire earthenware at 1100°C. Clay bodies are mixed in-house from local and imported earths.
- **Basalt**: Hard volcanic stone worked by diamond wheel and hand pick. Surface left matte or polished to a mirror finish.
